As seen in the galleries and read in the “About Us” page, we are a northwest company and cater to the sportsman that likes rugged yet functional firearms. Almost exclusively, we use phonic resin finishes. We have other options, but the majority of our customers prefer this type of finish because of its performance in wet, damp, snowy and salt water environments.

Gun North started phonic resin type finishing over twenty-five years ago in Anchorage, Alaska. At the time, we were one of the first, perhaps the first to use this technology in Alaska. In that last twenty-five years, we have perfected the process that provides a superior finish that will last for years. We have used most every phonic resin finish and currently use Cerakote Firearm Coatings extensively, as we feel Cerakote is the best on the market. Cerakote is a Division of NIC Industries, Inc. and was founded in 1984 with a focus on developing and manufacturing the highest performing line of ceramic coatings available anywhere in the world. To date, Cerakote has developed over 120 ceramic colors and finishes and is used by more firearm manufacturers than any other firearm coating. This makes Cerakote the world leader in firearm coatings. We stock many of the popular colors and can special order any of the colors they provide.

Basic black is still the most popular; however, FDE brown is right up there and then there’s our favorite, two tone black/olive. Let us know, maybe your color combo might set the new trend!
Please see the Cerakote finish selector page for all color options.

If you need to have us do some custom work for your firearm, but would like to have another type of finish, such as Hard Chrome, Nickel or Titanium Nitride, we can do the custom work and send the parts out to the sub contract refinisher for a nominal handling fee.

Pricing

This is a guideline of some of the refinishing pricing we provide. If you do not see what you would like, just email us at info@gunnorth.com for clarification and an exact quote.

Cerakote™ is the world leader in firearm coatings. We stock many of the more popular colors and can special order any of the colors they provide.

Refinishing does not include disassembly, deep cleaning and reassembly of firearms. Please see the disassembly & reassembly of firearms page for pricing. You may send us your parts, however, please be advised that it may take some minor fitting during reassembly once the coating process has been applied. We are not responsible for any damage that you may cause during the reassembly process.

Please note that when refinishing a firearm it is not desirable to coat every part. In some instances coating a part or parts group can lead to malfunctions. Some but not all parts that are not normally coated may includes springs, buffers, firing pins, trigger groups & gas pistons.

*If you desire a special order non-stock color, there will be $45 dollar surcharge added to the cost of the refinishing project.

** Please realize that some deep pitting, dings or scratches may not be removed.
