Gun North™ is a family owned and operated business started by Jeff & Cathy McLaughlin in 1989 in Anchorage, AK. Jeff & Cathy are both proud members of the NRA and support them in many ways.

Growing up in Southeast Alaska, has made Jeff & Cathy familiar with the outdoors, hunting and firearms, they both love to hunt and shoot. They have USPSA and IDPA experience and have both competed on a National Level. Additionally, both Jeff and Cathy spend significant time in the field hunting in Alaska and the Northwest.

Now located near Seattle, Washington, they are close to home in Southeast Alaska. Seattle provides a business friendly environment and the ability to collaborate with the industries best vendors.

Jeff has been gunsmithing for over 25 years and has customer built hundreds of hunting guns, pistols and tactical weapons. His equipment and machine shop are geared for precision and his experience is applied to ensure professional results. He specializes in customization of 1911 automatics, AR-15’s and FAL’s; however he has the expertise & experience to build bolt actions such as the Remington Model 700 rifles into tack drivers, whether for hunting or tactical applications. His rule of thumb is “I build them like they are my own” and his eye for perfection drives excellent performance and durability. His enthusiasm for quality is the reason many customers become friends and lifelong clients.

Gun North™ has significant experience with advance gun coating techniques. They offer the latest’s in oven cure coating for firearms which provides superior protection from the elements. With over 25 years of Alaska field testing experience from Brooks Range to Southeast Alaska they know quality. With significant experience in the newest technologies they offer Certakote® ceramic coating, and support other custom requests.
